Questions about Anxiety Medication?

Anti-anxiety medications can be a useful crutch, but not over the long term. Eventually you need to learn to cope with your anxiety. Begin by trying to identify exactly WHAT it is that's making you uncomfortable. Do you feel threatened by people? Why? If you have to speak to others, just remember that they're not going to hurt you, and probably would really like you once you got to know them. Sometimes taking up a hobby where you can talk to others without actually confronting them in person helps. Consider taking up ham radio, where you can talk with strangers across the country, but not have to face them or have them see you. Consider joining a group such as the Toastmaster's Club, which does marvelous, marvelous work in conditioning you for public speaking and putting you at ease. If your anxiety is really impacting your life in a negative way, consider seeking out your local Mental Health clinic and make an appointment to discuss this with a counselor. Don't be surprised if 25 years from now you are actually a very successful public speaker to large groups. It often works out that way.
