Is willow Alaska a nice place?

I'm doing a engilsh assignment and I decided to to a novel on an Aussie girl who is forced by her father to move to Alaska with him but is Willow a nice place, in the novel plot Ruby lives near a forest and a lake where it snows a fair bit Keeping in mide she did come from a hot climate and alot of Aussies can handle cold but not extreme coldness lol...
